**UPDATE ON GUNKANJIMA** Access to Gunkanjima was limited as of July 31, 2019 due to the detection of what appeared to be asbestos on the island during a regular safety inspection. HOWEVER, a second inspection conducted on August 3, 2019 concluded that “there is no asbestos to be found on Gunkanjima.” So, from August 10, 2019, Gunkanjima can be visited once again!
